In this workshop we will explore asana and pattern in a way that gives us techniques and insights to use our time well in order to live a healthy, joyful and productive life. Get ready to let go of old patterns and habits that don’t serve you or your practice anymore, and embrace new tools to up the function of your life both on and off the mat. This workshop is perfect for practitioners of all levels and styles, teachers and students.

Katonah Yoga is a syncretic Hatha yoga practice developed by Nevine Michaan over 40 years. She and her teachers incorporate classical Hatha yoga with Taoist theory, geometry, magic, mythology, metaphor, and imagination — in a practical framework designed to potentiate personal and communal well-being.Framing the practice, maps of time and personal space are defined and refined. Themes using asana as origami, manipulating form for function, and developing a sense of personal measure are incorporated in Katonah Yoga practices.

Katonah Yoga is organized around three principles of esoteric dialogue: all polarities are mediated by trinity; the universe has pattern, pattern belies intelligence; by virtue of repetition there is potential for insight.
Disciplined techniques are organized for revelation through revolutions.

One London writer described this class as an “ashtanga re-mix”. Yoga Jam is a Yoga class devoted to the spirit of improvisation. We will find new and exciting ways to energize our practice by exploring new variations and unique ways of combining them. By weaving the theme of vinyasa through new and familiar poses, we will open the door to spontaneous and fun exploration! We will close the class with soothing chants as well as kirtan, to open the heart.

Ron Reid and Marla Meenakshi Joy have been teaching a variety of inspired yoga classes and workshops which are Ashtanga and Vinyasa based fort he past 30 years.  Their reach has been global for the past 20 years.

With their band SWAHA they have been leading kirtan (call-and-response chanting) and teach yoga and music in a unique combination.  Inspired by Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, (and the vinyasa practice as a whole) they inform it with intelligent natural body alignment principles, SWAHA YOGA is designed ultimately to tap the creative spark within, and approach the Yoga practice as a Whole (8-limbed path).

Their home studio DOWNWARD DOG is based in Toronto and has been a destination for yoga since 1997 and belongs to the TOP 10 yoga studios in Canada. They are Master teachers, and their Teacher Training program is top notch and well known around the world.
